Minutes of the December 20, 2011 Meeting
The regular monthly meeting of the Henry County Farm Bureau Board of Directors was called to order by President Kevin Urick at 7:45 p.m. at the Henry County Farm Bureau, Cambridge, Illinois.
Kevin Urick led the pledge to the flag. Dwayne Anderson read the roll call. Also present were Steve BeMiller, Illinois Agricultural Auditing Association and Todd VerHeecke, Henry County Young Leader Chair.
A motion was made and seconded to approve the board minutes as sent out in the meeting notice. Motion carried.
Steve BeMiller, IAAA, gave the annual audit report.
The Treasurer’s report was approved to be placed on file until audited.
It was moved and seconded to approve the Membership report, noting any changes. Motion carried. Dennis Verbeck presented a plaque to Deric Olson for membership recruitment. Dennis was also recognized at the Illinois Farm Bureau Annual Meeting for signing 15 new voting members this past year.
Todd VerHeecke gave the Young Leaders report. Todd noted that Bushels for Hunger program ended November 30 and a check for $22,258 was presented to the River Bend Foodbank. The Young Leaders received a Gold Star for Committee Excellence at the IFB Annual Meeting, as well as the “Harvest for All” Award. Todd also announced the results of the Penny Wars competition at Annual Meeting. Mitch Heisler also participated in the YL State Discussion Meet. The next Young Leaders meeting will be December 21 at 7:00 p.m.
Dave Westerlund gave the Marketing Committee report. The next market outlook program will be March 7 with Mike McClelland of Mobile Weather at 6:15 p.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Orion.
Katie gave the Local Affairs Committee report. The Legislative and Local Affairs Committees will hold a joint meeting on Friday, January 6th at 8:00 a.m. at the Purple Onion in Annawan.
Jim Ufkin gave the Legislative Committee report. Jim announced that the Governmental Affairs Leadership Conference will be held in Springfield on February 29-March 1.
Jim Ufkin gave the Henry County Zoning report.
Steve Zobrist gave the Henry County SWCD report.
Al Lyman gave the Henry County Fair report.
Jan Weber gave the Henry County Economic Development report.
Katie Boruff gave the Manager's report. Katie noted that a $2,000 grant was received from the Geneseo GIFT Foundation for Henry County Ag in the Classroom. A check was also received from Gold Star FS Seed Sales as a donation to ag in the classroom.
Kevin Urick gave the President’s report.
Old Business:
Kevin reviewed the IAA Annual Meeting and noted the awards received by Henry County and the distinguished service award presented to Senator Todd Sieben.
New Business:
Directors were asked to review the Farm Bureau Committees for 2012.
It was moved and seconded to submit a letter to the EPA concerning the proposed CAFO reporting rules. Motion carried.
It was moved and seconded to have IAAA conduct our 2012 audit. Motion carried.
Correspondence:
Thank you was received from Annawan Grade School for our support of the Agriculture in the Classroom program.
A motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 9:25 p.m.
